The work engages with the Sertão, a fameless part of Brazil. It is a poetic observation of the landscape, its animals, plants and people.

The Sertão, located in the north-east of Brazil, is characterised by sparse vegetation due to a semi-arid climate, which in the past and still today provides a dimly livelihood for the majority of its inhabitants. The cultural location of the Sertão is between the tension of land and cattle ownership, the resource of water and the influence of the state and religion.
As a traditional cattle breeding region, the vaqueiros form an important part of the cultural space. However, the importance of their work has diminished in recent decades, a traditional way of earning a living already belonging more to the past than to the future.
