Posters in public space (project design)

Tobias Kruse's work Deponie deals with the presence of toxic elements in society. Questions of identity, political fringes and breaking points as well as experiences of violence are depicted in concrete images. Yet these elements do not stand aesthetically or documentary on their own, but are located spatially. Although the photographs were taken exclusively in eastern Germany, they are intended to be an observation that relates to German society as a whole. The work leaves room for interpretation and rejects a morally unambiguous point of view.

This ambiguity should be the motivation for the idea of taking the photographic observations made by him back to some of the places where they were taken, thus opening up a space for reflection.
A selection of photographs and the terms associated with them are to be placarded in public spaces in four eastern German cities. Depending on the available space, the posters will appear individually or as a series next to each other. Cooperation with local partners (cultural institutions, art associations, theaters, etc.) will be sought. After the posters have been put up, the potential reactions of the population will be documented. For this purpose, short video sequences will be recorded, then compiled and shared via social networks.
